In America most every church building has abominations, of which there are four main ones. They are standing where they ought not to be standing, and you can see it for yourself. These are like the obvious ones in the world wide Roman Church where they claim not to practice idolatry; nevertheless, they kneel before their images, talk to their images, petition their images, and pledge their allegiance to their images

The ABOMINATION CHALLENGE

abomination, idolatry, Ezekiel, Daniel,

What I’m telling you about today took me twenty-five years to get a reasonable handle on, though I had a spiritual instinct about it from the beginning.  But in your case, I’ll bet you can figure it out in just a minute.  It’s about the abomination of desolation the Lord Jesus talked about, standing where it ought not.  Let’s check it out in Mark’s gospel, which is similar to the passage in Luke…

“Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house: And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.”

In America most every church building has abominations, of which there are four main ones.  They are standing where they ought not to be standing, and you can see it for yourself.  These are the obvious ones in the worldwide Roman Church where they claim not to practice idolatry; nevertheless, they kneel before their images, talk to their images, petition their images, and pledge their allegiance to their images.  Now as you can read in Mark’s passage, the Lord did not tell us specifically what the abomination was because it was more important to understand the spiritual principle behind it.  In this way, if one understands the principle, one can see the abominations when they manifest anywhere - even today.

Listen, it is one thing for the abomination to be standing somewhere in the ungodly world, but another thing for it to be standing in a so-called church sanctuary, on top of its roof, or anywhere else on the property, especially if you are an attendee there.  Interestingly it is rarely brought up that Israel’s priests worshipped the sun at their temple according to Ezekiel, but it was hidden in plain view from the regular folk.  This is still the practice at most church buildings today: they are openly practicing sun god worship, and it is hidden in plain view to most.

Too much for you to handle right now? If so, the next time you have a chance to go down to the ol’ church building (especially you Protestants), take the abomination challenge to discern if the abomination of desolation is standing where it ought not to be.  All you have to do is sit there and look around.  You’ll figure it out.  But maybe you have already figured it out.  Scary, isn’t it?  Know why?  Because you will have to change your thinking and life accordingly.  But if you don’t see it, the Lord has promised, “let him that readeth understand.”  In other words, if you continue to read the word of God, you, too, will understand some way, one day – hopefully sooner than later.

And so, until we meet again… Remember God loves you.  Read your Bible.
