Not everyone has noticed the Lord Jesus cleansed the temple twice; and I guess he wanted to make a lasting impression on everyone back then and for today.

Business as Usual

temple, cleansed, thieves, Jesus, John 2, Matthew 21, Mark, SWAT, tables, John 3:16, freely,

The Lord Jesus Christ cleansed the temple of mercantile thieves at the beginning and end of his ministry.  And yet, they are all still in business today and continue to hawk their ministerial wares in the name of God.

Not everyone has noticed the Lord Jesus cleansed the temple twice, and I guess he wanted to make a lasting impression on everyone back then and for today.  You can find the first cleansing in John 2:13-16, and the second in Matthew 21:12-13.  As a matter of fact, the second cleansing is also mentioned in Mark and Luke’s gospels.  Read the passages and do some thinking, and understand that the Lord gave a violent performance and demonstration how he felt about folk setting up businesses in his name, especially on church property. And notice, also, he was so fierce while flaying a whip and tossing tables, nobody had enough nerve to stop him, not even a big burly cop, or the police department’s SWAT team.

So, if the Lamb of God was dramatically pointing out the evil of making merchandise in his name, what will he be like when he returns as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and finds the same thing still going on, but worse?  Look out, you peddling preachers, and selling songsters, because the Lord Jesus will be flipping more than tables.  He will be tossing mountains, planets, and universes into the black hole of hell.

The scripture many people mindlessly regurgitate as their religious credentials, John 3:16, is a great example of  the giving God, and how he and his ministers operate contrary to this beastly and mammon loving world.  Listen…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

You see, God so loved us, he didn’t sell, ask for a donation, pressure a pledge, start a  raffle, or insist on a tithe to save us - he gave his only begotten Son.  And, yet, while most preach salvation is a free gift of God, everything else isn’t, and you’ve got to buy their messages and music, or hire them like a whore.

Well, all I know is what I read in the Bible, and this is what the word of God has to say about you religious thieves, and the dens you operate from called church buildings, and evangelistic associations…

“The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:7)

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” (Revelation 21:6)

“And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)

In other words, If you sell - you smell.  But if you give - it is godly; especially if God freely gave you your message or talent in the first place.

God loves you.  Read your Bible.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
